Saving Salmon: Last Effort!

Joseph O'Neil

Sunday October 30th, 2:00pm

The Yachats Academy of Arts and Sciences is pleased to present Joseph O’Neil, Acting Manager of the Oregon Hatchery Research Center on the Alsea River. Joseph O’Neil has over 25 years experience working in the fisheries field and has worked in Alaska, Washington, California and now Oregon.

O’Neil will discuss the latest research on the survival rates of wild salmon as compared to hatchery-raised salmon. This controversial issue has been around for a long time.

The former Alsea Hatchery is the home of the Research Center. Current research will show what wild salmon need to protect their survival and production.

There is no admission charge for this presentation. A $5.00 donation will help cover publicity expenses. For more information log on to YachatsAcademy.org, GoYachats.com/events or call 541-961-6695
